Edo Community Boils As Ijaw Freedom Fighters Invade Okomu, Kill Oil Worker, Raze Buildings

Gunmen who claimed to be Ijaw Freedom Fighters invaded Imariogha Community also known as AT&P near Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc in Ovia South-west local government area of Edo State killed the company worker, injured one and left buildings and vehicles razed in a midnight offensive.

The gunmen after killing the company’s worker left a warning note containing their demands, addressed to the state government Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on the chest of the bloodstained corpse.

A traditional chief in the riverine Imariogha village reported to have sustained injuries in the hostility has been hospitalized.

They were said to have launched deadly aggression on the Community through the waterways, last Sunday.

The Commissioner of police in Edo State, Funsho Adegboye said police personnel have visited the troubled village as security agencies in the state were in touch with the company towards ensuring a lasting solution to the crisis.

Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc had within the past few days reported a series of attacks on its workers at the embattled rubber plantation with no fewer than three deaths and several injuries recorded.
