The United States of America Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken today met with the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry in Cairo, Egypt where they discussed ongoing efforts to protect Palestinian civilians, increase humanitarian assistance to Gaza, and secure an immediate ceasefire that includes the release of hostages.
They consulted on how to advance a path to a Palestinian state with security guarantees for Israel.
They also discussed shared objectives for regional stability, including responding to Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, addressing instability in Libya and ending the war in Sudan.
At the meeting, Blinken reaffirmed the United States’ rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
