Benin City, Edo, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to massively support educational development in Nigeria unconditionally.

This call was made during the week at the Elysium Event Centre in Benin City by a United States-based Nigerian and member, Baptist High School Class of 1984 Association, Mr. Joseph Akpofure.

Mr. Joseph Akpofure, a certified criminologist, who was the Chief Host at the mini re-union party he organized to celebrate the 40 years anniversary of Baptist High School Benin City, Class of 1984, said nothing was wrong with Nigerians and education, but something is very wrong with the system in Nigeria, as Nigerians excel educationally outside the shores of Nigeria.

According to Mr. Akpofure: “Looking at the capacity l acquired at Baptist High School over 40 years ago and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria, before l left the country, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should decide quickly to do the right things to support educational development in Nigeria unconditionally, by ensuring that all the necessary infrastructural facilities are provided.

“If President Tinubu does that the kind of mentality that some Nigerian youths have now about education, saying it is a scam will change drastically, because as far as l am concerned education is a passport to getting it.

“Nigerians are first class materials in the United States. President Tinubu should just do the right thing by making funds available to take care of the educational sector in Nigeria. Outside the shores of Nigeria, especially in the United States people learn with comfort, but regrettably in Nigeria students learn with life and blood. We can get it right.”

Also speaking at the well attended event, where fellow ex-classmates had plenty of fun, the Vice – President, Baptist High School Class of 1984 Association, Mr. Benson Uwadiae said: “Nigeria is the most blessed country on the continent. We have what it takes to blossom in the educational sector. The government of the day at the centre should try by introducing scholarships to capture the students in the  primary and secondary  levels in the country. It is possible we can do it”
