Benin City, Nigeria – Director-General, Edo State Health Insurance Commission (EDOHIS), Dr Rock Amegor has advocated regular exercise to reduce healthcare cost and promote general wellbeing.
He noted that people who engage in exercise hardly fall sick as when they do, it is not difficult for them to recover.
Amegor made the case for regular exercise, while speaking at a fitness program “GetFit,” organized by Edo Insurance Scheme (EDOHIS) at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City last Saturday.
He explained that the GetFit with EDOHIS was aimed at sensitizing Edo residents on the needs and benefits of health insurance.
According to him, 85,000 people spread across the 18 local government areas of the state have already registered with EDOHIS, saying that EDOHIS hopes to register 130,000 people before the end of 2022.
The Commissioner, Edo State Ministry of Youths and Gender Issues, Andrew Emwanta who was also at the event lauded the initiative which he said has kept Edo youths busy.
He said the ministry of Youths and Gender Issues will continue to partner with EDOHIS as exercise is the key to keep healthy.
Among other Edo State government functionaries present at the event was Hon. (Mrs.) Enehita Emeya, executive member, Edo State Sports Commission.
Activities that heralded the event included medical screening, fitness walk and workout session, health and nutrition talk as well as sensitization, representing the last and the fifth in series in the year 2022.
