Baptist High School, Benin Class 84 Inaugurates New EXCO

The beauty of yester-years amongst Secondary School mates was marvelously recaptured last weekend, at the Elysium Event Centre, Sapele Road, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.

The event was the gathering of old students association of Baptist High School, Benin City ( Worldwide) who graduated in 1984, and the inauguration of its new Executive Council at the 2022 Re-union activities.

The Re-union program which began on Friday February 1th with many of the old students having physical contacts after more than 30 years of separation, continued on Saturday February 12th, with the Annual General Meeting, while Sunday February 13th was used for Thanksgiving Service, at the Top Flight Faith Bible Church Inc., Benin.

Meanwhile, the Baptist High School, Benin, Class 84 set, had successfully conducted a credible free and fair historic election into its Executive Council between 27, 28 & 29 January 2022, which saw the emergence of following as elected members:

Etinosa Onaiwu: President (World wide)

Benson Uwadiae: Vice- President ( Nigeria)

Juliet Odibo Mann: Vice-President ( North America)

Henry Emodafe: Vice- President ( Europe)

Nowinta Igbotako: General Secretary

Godwin Okojie : Assistant General Secretary

Yaya Omosun : Public Relations Officer

Veronica Uzamere : Financial Secretary

Dorothy Osaro Odia; Treasurer

Michael Iyalekwhue; The Provost

Roseline E. Well-Agharese: Welfare Director

Raphael Aimufua: Assistant Welfare Director

Legal Adviser: Dr. Irene Aigbe

The swearing-in ceremony/inauguration of the members of the new Executive Council was done during the segment allocated to the Annual General Meeting, with Barr. Irene Aigbe administering the oaths of office.

Speaking at the event, the former President of the 1984 Class, Mrs. Osariemen Adesuwa Uzamere, who profusely thanked the Class of 84 for the opportunity to serve said:” l am delighted to say that in our four years of leadership we were able to hold the family together as one despite so many happenings that would have divided us.

The experience we had while serving this great family was worth it. And l want to use this opportunity to congratulate the incoming executive body.”

The newly sworn-in President of BHS Class 84, Mr. Etinosa Onaiwu, who was full of excitement posited thus: “We thank the immediate past executive body for a job well done. There is so much to do to move our great class 84 forward. We are seriously going to identify those things that will catapult us into greater heights. We are going to make sure that we support each other and promote mutual respect for one another”.

The Baptist High School Benin City, Class 84 set which is an affiliate of the Baptist High School Old Students Association (BHOSA) was kick started in 2015 by some graduates of BHS Class 84 resident in Nigeria and in Diaspora.

The colorful three day historic event, which was a festival of joy, dancing, dedication to the spirit of brotherhood and praise to Almighty God was attended by class mates within Nigeria, United States and Europe.

Participants and guests at the classic event treated themselves to several varieties of sumptuous local and continental dishes, while scintillating and captivating old school music rented the air at the venue.
