Obaseki Reassures Of Establishing New Technical College In Uzebba, Reconstructing Sobe-Uhunmora Road

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has reassured residents of Sabongida-Ora in Owan West Local Government Area that his government will ensure the reconstruction of the Sobe-Uhonmora Road, noting that the contractor handling the project will be moving to site within the next few weeks.

The governor, who spoke during a visit to the community at the weekend, promised that his administration will embark on more projects in the area to better the lives of residents.

He said the government, in partnership with the World Bank, has finalized plans for the establishment of a new technical college in Uzebba to boost Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the state, as part of strategies to build a vibrant workforce to drive the state’s industrial growth.

Obaseki noted: “When I came for the campaign here, I made some promises, which we are working on. We have already completed a review of Sobe-Uhonmora Road as the contractor will be moving to site within the next few weeks. That infrastructure will open up that axis.

“I am in talks with the Central bank of Nigeria, under their Cassava programme, to establish the programme in Owan West. I have also asked the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture to demarcate between 5,000 and 10,000 hectares of land for the Cassava programme.

“In partnership with the World Bank, we are finalising plans to establish a Technical and Vocational school in Uzebba. We are working to complete the action programme for development of the area, but need peace to actualise these.”
