Don’t Politicise Security, Wike Tells New Service Chiefs

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has advised the new service chiefs not to politicise security by aligning with politicians.

Wike said this while commending the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on their appointment following the resignation of their predecessors today.

The Governor challenged the new appointees to see their appointment as an opportunity to re-engineer the nation’s security architecture which has suffered a tremendous setback in the last five years.

He disclosed this in a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, titled “Governor Wike Commends President Buhari Over ack Of Service Chiefs.”

Wike said, “The new service chiefs should not politicise security by aligning with politicians.

“What the country needs now is competence and professionalism that will reduce insecurity to the barest minimum.”

The Governor pointed out that Nigerians are looking up to the new appointees to make the desired change haven lost faith in their predecessors.

He advised governments at all levels to render the necessary support to enable the service chiefs to deliver on their assignment.

“This is an opportunity to serve the nation and I believe that the service chiefs will be focused and dedicated,” he added.
