Opponent: Moulton Still Has Money From Donor Linked To Epstein

SALEM, MA — Rep. Seth Moulton has kept most of the money he received from a New York hedge fund manager accused of having sex with underage girls in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, Angus McQuilken, a Democrat challenging Moulton in September’s primary, said Tuesday.

In a news release, McQuilken called on Moulton to divest the more than $78,000 his campaign committee have received from Glenn Dubin and his wife over the past five years. One of Epstein’s underage victims has accused Dubin of being among the prominent men she was ordered to have sex with.

“It’s disgusting that Angus is trying to put his name in the news by exploiting for political gain one of the worst human trafficking and child sex scandals ever reported,” Moulton’s campaign said in a statement. “Angus is trying to resurrect this to get his own name into the news because his campaign is failing to gain any traction. It’s disgusting and exactly the type of politics that Angus is known for. It’s why Democrats picked Scott Brown over Angus twice, and it’s the same type of dirty politics that voters have sent Seth, year after year, to fight against in Washington.”

Moulton’s campaign said $60,000 of the $78,000 McQuilken referenced had been donated to Serve America Victory Fund, a joint fundraising agreement where donations are immediately transferred to the candidates who are members of the agreement.Ring  |  Featured AdvertiserFirewood Bandit BustedWhen this man tried to help himself to some “free” firewood, Chris sent him fleeing with the help of the Ring Floodlight Cam.Watch Now

“Those donations do not belong to Serve America or Congressman Moulton. Each of those individual candidates, who received the donations years ago, has sole discretion over the contributions,” the campaign said. “Put simply, we do not have access to that money.”

Moulton’s campaign made a $5,000 donation to an anti-human trafficking nonprofit in September when Dubin was linked to Epstein. At the time, he said the rest of the $13,000 Dubin and his wife donated directly to his Congressional campaign committee had been spent.

McQuilken, a gun control advocate, and Jamie Zahlaway Belsito of Topsfield are challenging Moulton in the Democratic primary. John Paul Moran is the only candidate running as a Republican.

“It’s not okay to take contributions from accused sex offenders, and then try to make it right by donating less than 10 percent of those donations to charity, saying you already spent the rest,” McQuilken said in a news release. “To argue that the money had already been spent or donate to other candidates means that Seth Moulton gained benefit from these tainted contributions. Seth Moulton needs to take immediate action to make this right.”
