The results of the first set of candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) last Saturday have been released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The results were said to have been released within 24 hours of the examination, and candidates have been advised to check their e-mail addresses or visit the board’s website for their results.
This was disclosed yesterday by the JAMB Head of Media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement in which he stated that a total of 742,906 candidates took the examination last Saturday and Monday.
While adjudging the 2017 UTME to be excellent with minimal challenges, Benjamin further disclosed that 401,292 candidates sat last Tuesday’s examinations, thereby taking the number to over 1,144,198 out of the 1,718,425 candidates slated for the examination this year.
He said: “A total of 742,906 candidates took the examination last Saturday and Monday. Another 401,292 candidates are expected to join them today, taking the number to over 1,144,198 out of the 1,718,425 candidates slated for the examination this year.
“The conduct of the examination has been adjudged to be excellent by all stakeholders, parent, students and the mass media. Particularly acknowledged is the prompt response of the board to the very few technical issues that have been reported during the nationwide exercise.
“A rapid standby response technical team is on standby at the headquarters to receive and address complaints from the 642 centres across the country. All these and other innovation put in place by the Board has made the on-going examination seamless and coordinated.”
The 2017 UTME is slated to end on May 20, 2017.
