Ex-Deputy Governor in Ondo State, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, has said the All Progressives Congress won the Saturday’s governorship election in the state through the immense assistance of the former chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party who defected to the APC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared a former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu(SAN), the winner of the election, having polled 244, 842, while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede scored 150,380 votes and the Alliance for Democracy’s candidate, Chief Olusola Oke came out with 126,889 votes.
Speaking with our correspondent in Akure, the Ondo State on Sunday, the former deputy governor to Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, said the result indicated that the APC was popular in the state and that the election was free and fair.
Olanusi defected to the APC shortly before the 2015 Presidential Election and was later impeached by the state House of Assembly.
