Human Rights Activist Accuses Nig Police Of Extortion, Exploitation … Plans Protest

By Alltimepost.com

Human rights and civil society activist, Comrade Kola Edopkaiyi has accused the officer in charge of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Edo State Police Command, CSP Franklin of presiding over the extortion and exploitation of the poor in the name of bail, warning that he should desist from such acts.

“They will tell you that bail is free but they heavily bleed our People to the point of financial harakiri.”

Comrade Edopkaiyi warned of impending protest against such actions. “We shall be embarking on peaceful mass Protest soon against the action of the Officer in Charge of FSARS who is supposed to be Chief Superintendent of Police not Chief Superintendent of extortion. We hate the sin and love the sinner.”

In his Facebook page on Saturday, Comrade Edokpaiyi however noted that the Nigeria Police Force has “some stupendous men of integrity who will never allow filthy lucre to stain their hands because they believe in God.”

He particularly made reference to Men like former Edo State commissioner of Police, Mr. Filmihon Adeoye who was allegedly redeployed to another state “because he refused to be compromised and be corrupted by the delicious meal on the table of the Emperor and godfather of Edo Politics.”

“In the course of fighting for the hoipolloi pro bono and engaging the masses in non-violent political jujitsu, we have seen junior and senior officers who are nice and professional in dealing with the public,” he noted.

Comrade Edopkaiyi decried the present activities of some men of Federal SARS, Edo State Command, describing them as monstrous, devilish, satanic, wicked, barbaric, anachronistic, and repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience.

“The Officer in Charge of FSARS, Mr. Franklin does not help matters at all. When you report any unprofessional conduct of his men to him, he is very quick and good at defending the monstrous actions of his officers because he is interested in the ransom paid for freedom,” he alleged.

“The OC will turn what is supposed to be dialogue into monologue. He will do the talking from the terminus aquo to the terminus ad quem. He will never allow you to pontificate on the point of law. A senior police officer like him should be a good listener instead of being loquacious and garrulous.”

According to him, that unit under the watch of the OC has continued to endlessly extort, exploit and “cow our people who they assumed to be pusillanimous. He should be told that milking and sucking the poor in the name of bail is worse than blood money.”

Power, he said, is not determined by agents of the state, elected or otherwise. “Rather power originates from the masses who have given their consent for whatsoever reason(s) to be ruled.”
