In a dramatic twist, a front runner in Edo State governorship race on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Barrister Osarodion Ogie has bowed to pressure to drop his ambition.
Barr. Ogie has subsequently been appointed the Director-General of the governorship campaign organization of his former rival, Dr. Godwin Obaseki.
The announcement was made by Dr. Godwin Obaseki at his governorship aspiration declaration venue of Urhokpokta Hall on Friday.
Obaseki dropped the surprise by saying he had decided to make the serving Commissioner for Works in Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s administration his campaign organization Director-General.
While accepting the offer, Barr. Ogie thanked Dr. Obaseki for the honor done him and promised to do all in his power to deliver on his mandate.
This latest development has put to rest, speculations that the well-known and popular politician will soon declare his governorship aspiration.
Amongst those in the field of APC governorship aspirants in Edo State, Barrister Ogie was believed to be the closest to the nomination ticket by virtue of his popularity amongst party supporters and leaders, and above all, his closeness to Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
It was reliably gathered that Ogie was pressured by Governor Oshiomhole to jettison his ambition in favor of Dr. Godwin Obaseki, whom the former labor leader wants to succeed him.
