Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has restored to a former governor of Delta State, Mr. James Onanefe Ibori, the parcel of land situated in the Government Reservation Area of Benin City which Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) was revoked by the immediate past governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu and made available to newsmen on Monday in Benin.
The statement said that the land was allegedly reallocated to a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Matthew Iduoriyekemwen by the former governor of Edo State.
According to the statement, Okpebholo similarly restored to Captain Nogie Megisson, the parcel of land which Certificate of Occupancy was also revoked by the former governor.
The statement quoted: “Governor Okpebholo believed Obaseki’s action was maliciously and politically motivated.
“For the Governor, such actions are repugnant to civility, natural justice, equity and good conscience and cannot be allowed to stand.
“There are several other lands revoked by Obaseki that follow the same pattern and are altogether ineffectual and barren.
“It is Governor Monday Okpebholo’s position that public goods cannot be sacrificed at the altar of political considerations”, the statement read in part.
