Benin City, Nigeria – United States-based academic giant, Prof. Dickson Idusuyi, has advised recipients of the second edition of the Baptist High School Benin Alumni in Diaspora (BHSBAID) scholarships to remain dedicated to their studies, saying failure is the result of doing the wrong things.
Prof. Dickson Idusuyi, an alumnus of the institution, recently gave the advice in Benin City, during the historic event which recognized exceptional students who successfully navigated a rigorous qualifying process to earn the prestigious awards.
According to Prof Idusuyi who is also the Chairman, Scholarship Committee of the 2nd Edition of Baptist High School Benin Alumni in Diaspora (BHSBAID), recipients of the scholarships were selected because they were the best.

His words: “I want you to always remember that you were selected for the scholarships award because you were the best among the list of so many applicants. You must constantly be reminded about the importance of education and the need to be focused while in class.
“There is nothing like the professor failed me, rather failure is the result or consequences of doing the wrong things. As recipients of this award, you must never be intimidated by anybody, because BHS has produced a Vice – Chancellor of a university, professors, doctors, highly rated lawyers and other qualified professionals. The sky should remain your limits.”

The President of the BHSBAID, Mr. Osunde Owen meticulously shared with recipients, their parents and guests, the history of how the scholarships program started. The highlight of the event was the introduction of the first graduate from Delta State University, who was one of the first recipients.
The well attended event was witnessed by dignitaries from across Nigeria and diaspora including Christiana Okoniha, Vice President & Secretary of the Scholarship Committee.
The President of Edo National Association Worldwide (ENAW), Engineer Bose Oviasu donated the sum of N100,000 to support the Scholarship Project. The event was held at the Constant Momoh Hall of the Benin branch of Nigerian Bar Association in the state capital.
