Retired Edo CP Umoru, Confident In Police Ability To Tackle Future Security Challenges

Retired outgoing Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Umoru Peter Ozigi, has expressed strong confidence in the Nigerian police force’s ability to effectively handle any security challenges that may arise in the future.

He made the remark during his pull-out parade at the Police Training School, Ogida, in Benin City, today on Saturday.

“I look forward to seeing the future unfold for the Nigeria Police Force, confident that you will continue to rise to the challenges ahead with courage and dedication”, CP Umoru said.

He described the moment of his exit from the police force as bittersweet, explaining that from the his first day as a cadet to his tenure as Commissioner of police in Edo State, the experience had shaped him personally and professionally.

CP Umoru Ozigi expressed gratitude to Edo communities and dedicated officers of the state police Command for the synergy and support which led to the success story under his watch as CP, Edo State.

“As I stand before you today, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and reflection as I mark the conclusion of my service in the Nigeria Police Force. This moment is bittersweet, as I bid farewell to a vocation that has been my life’s calling and a source of immense pride.

“I have had the privilege of working alongside dedicated officers, supportive colleagues, and resilient communities; Together we have strived to uphold the law, protect the innocent, and serve our nation with integrity.

“I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for their guidance and support throughout my career. To my fellow officers, your commitment and bravery inspire me daily. It has been an honour to share this journey with you, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together”, he stated.

The ceremony, attended by senior police officers and other dignitaries, among whom were the Edo State deputy governor Hon. Dennis Idahosa, the recently posted Commissioner of Police to Edo State CP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin who the outgoing CP Umoru said they were enlisted in the force the same day, representatives of the Oba of Benin and other heads of security agencies in the State.

The event served as a reflection of CP Ozigi’s impactful career, and his words left many hopeful about the continued progress of the police force in addressing security challenges across the country.

CP Ozigi, who served in various capacities throughout his career, took over from CP Nemi Edwin-Iwo on Friday, October 18, 2024, during heightened political uncertainties witnessed in the State.
