Ogwa, Edo State, Nigeria – Academic giant, Prof. Cyrille Ngamen Kouassi has called on Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take drastic actions to curb the lingering issue of brain drain in the country.

Such actions he noted, must include the provision of Jobs, social, environmental security and sense of belonging.

Kouassi, the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Glorious Vision University, (GVU) Ogwa, Edo State, Nigeria made the call in a chat with Journalists in his office Benin during the week.

He called on the President to urgently provide Nigerian citizens with conducive environment to curb the plaguing issue.

He stressed the need for President Tinubu to create a positive atmosphere in Nigeria that will restore human dignity, practical patriotic spirit and value for life.

“If Tinubu could do that with sincerity of purpose professionals will have a rethink and stay back in the country, though migration is a natural phenomenon,” he said.

On the looming ASUU strike, he called on the Federal Government to look at the issues raised by ASUU and give them positive responses in practical terms.

“We all know the relationship between good education and development in a given nation, because strike action has never been the best option in any conflict resolution disputes. Good education is the backbone of any society, and therefore should be handled with hand gloves,” he noted.

Kouassi said he was aware of the frantic efforts being made by Mr. President towards ASUU demands such as the constitution of new governing councils in the universities, and the removal of universities from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) and others, “but again the Federal Government needs to be proactive, practical and timely.”
