#EdoDecides: Three Days To Gov Election, Electoral Body INEC Reports Nearly 380,000 Uncollected Permanent Voter Cards

The electoral body which made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Commissioner & Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, said out of 2,629,025 registered voters, 2,249,780, representing 85.57%, have collected their PVCs. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that 379,245 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), representing 14.43 percent of the total registered voters in Edo state are yet to be collected three days to the September 21 governorship election in the state.

The electoral body which made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Commissioner & Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, said out of 2,629,025 registered voters, 2,249,780, representing 85.57%, have collected their PVCs. 

The Commission recently announced the total number of registered voters in Edo State as 2,629,025, and further gave the breakdown of the figure by gender, age, occupation and disability.

On Tuesday, INEC said, “Out of this figure, 2,249,780 (85.57%) have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) while 379,245 (14.43%) of the PVCs are uncollected as at the end of the extended period for PVC collection on Sunday, 16th September 2024.

“Consequently, the Commission is making available data on PVC collection on Polling Unit basis in Edo State ahead of the Governorship election holding this weekend.”

According to the Commission, there are 4,519 Polling Units in the state, adding that voting will take place in each unit.
