All progressives Congress (APC’s) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo has been declared the winner of the just concluded Edo State gubernatorial election which took place on Saturday September 21, 2024.
The state returning officer, Prof Furuk Adamu Kuta, Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State declared Senator Okpebhole winner of the highly contested gubernatorial race, having polled a total number 291,667 votes to defeat his opponents, Dr. Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Barr Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) who scored 247,655 and 22,763 votes respectively.
The State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Anthony Aziegbemi had on Sunday (today), while alleging irregularities in the electoral process, appealed to the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to review the collated results for the Edo governorship election before the final announcement.
