Tom Obaseki Reaffirms Commitment To Workers’ Welfare As Oredo LGA Boss Receives NULGE Executive

By Eben Enasco

Oredo Local Government Chairman, Dr. Tom Obaseki has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of workers, whom he described as the engine room of governance, and promised that their dedication and loyalty would continue to be rewarded.

Obaseki gave the reaffirmation recently in Benin when he received in audience, the executive members, Oredo branch of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), led by Comrade John Osabuiohen.

The visit was aimed at expressing gratitude to the Chairman and, through him, to the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, for the successful implementation of the new minimum wage of N70,000 for Oredo Local Government workers.

Obaseki thanked the Union leadership for their visit and assured them that their message would be delivered to the Governor without delay.

He appreciated their support for his programs aimed at repositioning the Council and sought to sustain the existing friendship between his administration and the Union.

Earlier in his remarks, Comrade Osabuiohen, the Branch Chairman highlighted the challenges faced by civil servants before the current administration, including uncertain salaries, withheld promotions, and neglected welfare.

He praised Governor Obaseki for changing the narrative and creating an enabling environment for councils to generate revenue through relevant laws.

He said although there is still more work to be done, the gains made so far can be consolidated.

Comrade Osabuiohen expressed his joy and appreciation for the Governor’s efforts, which he said have brought smiles to the faces of workers, especially during this challenging period.

He reaffirmed the workers’ total commitment and support for the Obaseki-led administration and declared their readiness to support him in all aspects, including the forthcoming election.

He emphasized that their support is guaranteed because their future is secured, and they know where they are headed.
