Edo Guber: Withdraw From Governorship Race Over Comments In US, Okpebholo Ray Tells Sen. Okpebholo

Deacon Darlington Okpebholo Ray, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo Central, has called on Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to withdraw from the race.

2-2

Ray’s call stems from comments attributed to Okpebholo during a visit to the United States, which he believes are a reflection of the candidate’s lack of intelligence and suitability for the position.

Ray criticized Okpebholo, stating that he is “not just an APC shame but shame to the whole state but particularly to the contemporary Esan Nation.” He added that the Esan people, known for their academic achievements, would never have chosen Okpebholo as their representative if they had known his true capabilities.

Ray expressed regret over Okpebholo’s previous election as Senator, stating that the PDP is still grappling with the consequences of that decision. He emphasized that they would not repeat the mistake of allowing Okpebholo to become governor.

“A man who cannot differentiate between museum and zoo where animals are kept is not fit to be a senator let alone being a governor,” Ray declared.

He argued that governing Edo State requires a leader with high intelligence and tact, not just someone who holds the title of governor. He praised the current governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, for elevating the state’s standing and stressed that his successor must possess the same level of intelligence and charisma to build upon his achievements.

Ray concluded by urging the people of Edo State to make the right choice by voting for Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate, instead of Monday Okpebholo.
