Edo Govt, NLC Honor Former WMA President, Dr. Enabulele, Others As Labour Heroes

Immediate Past President of the World Medical Association (WMA), Dr. Osahon Enabulele, has been formally recognized as a Labour Hero in recognition of his exceptional organizational leadership and profound achievements spanning over 30 years.

This recognition along with the conferment of a distinguished leadership award by Edo State Government and Nigeria Labour Congress, took place during the historic commissioning of the Labour House in Benin, by the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Monday, April 29, 2024.

Edo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Godwin Omobayo, while presenting the award and formal recognition on behalf of the State Government and organized Labour, applauded the progressive leadership strides of Dr Osahon Enabulele, and wished him greater attainments in his endeavors.

The event was widely attended by members of the State Executive Council, the Speaker and members of the Edo State House of Assembly; NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero; TUC President, Comrade Festus Osifo, members of the organized Labour, members of the public, and many other dignitaries,

Recognized posthumously at the event were the trio of Pa Michael Imoudu, Pa Jonathan Ihonde and Comrade Festus Iyayi, while some living Labour leaders, including Comrade (Senator) Adams Oshiomhole, amongst others were equally recognized as Labour heroes.

Responding on behalf of the Honorees, Dr. Enabulele thanked the Edo State Government and the Organized Labour for the honor done to them. He commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for his unparalleled commitment to the actualization of the Labour house, and called for its sustained maintenance and utilization for the purposes for which it was built.

He assured that the honorees will make further contributions to the development of society.

The event climaxed with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s announcement of N70, 000:00k minimum wage for Edo State public sector workers with effect from May 1, 2024. This announcement drew a thunderous applause from all present.
