When Nigeria Can’t Grow Under Tinubu

By Idegu Ojonugwa Shadrach

Personally, I am finding it difficult to differentiate Tinubu-led administration from past administrations in Nigeria.

Honestly speaking, I do not see any democratic tenets to assess democratic workings under the present government, yet some people still rate the government high.

Looking at the country, from all indices, I can only term the government as a relegated government.

Relegated government because, all I could see now does not provide a rational basis for high rating the administration.

For instance, the developmental features so far introduced are devoid of parameters that qualify Nigeria as a progressive state. One may be forgiven for calling on patriotic Nigerians to work towards the progress and good governance of the country to entrench the right culture and value.

It is no gainsaying that bribery, corruption and insecurity are top notches of the present administration. Unfortunately, the present Nigerian government is surrounded by high-profiled corrupt politicians and political actors who lack grooming on the rudiment of responsible leadership.

In the face of all this, one can’t expect the nation to grow.

Whatever be the case, let us urge President Tinubu to review his policies, programmes and structures of delivering his mandate for Nigerians.

The near eight months of his administration have not recorded significant achievements worth commending Tinubu for.

When Nigerians cannot see anything in a government few months after assuming office, coupled with the misgivings that surrounded his emergence, they must certainly review their impression about the government.

Nigerians are tired of empty and veiled speeches.

Acutely, Nigeria under democracy has not gotten anything reasonable to celebrate when compared to being under the military. Many Nigerians are old enough to be sign-posts of history. Evidence abounds that we can clearly see that Nigeria has become a failed nation in this democracy course.

But, if the democratic governance continues this way, we pray that the military do not use Nigeria to test-run and see where the real problems are.
