The members of the Northern Regional Caucus of the House of Representatives have pledged N450 million worth of infrastructure to the victims of the drone attacks in Tudun Biri community, Igabi Local Government of Kaduna State.
They announced the gesture yesterday ,when they visited Government House, Kaduna to commiserate with the government over the recent bomb incident .
The 13 members were led by House Majority Leader, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa.
They said that they were in Kaduna to condole and commiserate with the government and people of the state over the unfortunate incident.
Ado-Doguwa said that they where in Kaduna with the absolute mandate of the Leader of the House, Speaker Tajuddeen Abbas, to quickly rush to identify and sympathize with the people of the state
He said, “We are here on behalf of the entire members of the house of representatives
”What happened in Kaduna is an issue of concern to the house of representatives.
”The Federal Government has done quite well for quickly responding to the unfortunate incident in the area of support that was announced on behalf of the President by the VP.”
Ado-Doguwa commended the Federal Government for its outright commitment in responding to the incident.
He said, “It is our view as representatives of the people in the discharge of our duties as legislators.
‘That we will collectively and individually follow up the commitment of the government to ensure implementations to the conclusion.”
Ado-Doguwa said that the present administration was a government of commitment and responsibility, adding that they will also accelerate all government initiatives to the victims.
He listed the development projects to include classrooms, hospital and solar-powered boreholes for the affected community.
Ado-Doguwa explained that they would also construct a befitting police outpost, a community hall and access roads.
The leader also vowed that the house would liaise with the Federal Government to ensure that the unfortunate incident was thoroughly investigated to avoid its recurrence.
Ado-Doguwa also commended the Federal Government for its exemplary leadership and for taking prompt action in supporting the people.
He also commended Gov. Uba Sani for his leadership style and peace building process in the state.
Sani appreciated the members for finding time to extend their condolences for the tragic Tudun Biri bomb incident, which resulted in numerous casualties and injuries.
He also thanked them for emphasising the need for proper investigation into the incident.
Sani said that they were on the same page on calling for justice for the people of Tudun Biri, saying, ”the incident was as a result of carelessness of the security agencies.”
He called for speedy investigation and ensuring that those found culpable face sanctions, their donation will go along way in helping the people
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the delegation also visited the recuperating victims at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and prayed for their quick recovery.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of Jama’atu Nasrul Islam (JNI), has said that the council would seek justice for victims of the accidental drone attack .
The Sultan gave the assurance , yesterday during the annual JNI Central Council Conference held in Minna.
“As strong Muslims, we take it as the will of Allah when such things happened; we will look at what we can do to those who were affected, we will follow it up to see that justice is done.
“We are not looking for anybody, but we want justice to be done to anybody. As Muslims we all felt sad about what happened,” he said.
On the conference, the Sultan said it was to discuss events happening across the world affecting Muslims and Islam.
He called on the Federal Government to pay attention to the Minna-Suleja and Minna-Bida roads, which are in deplorable conditions.
In his address, Minister for Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, again expressed President Bola Tinubu’s apology and sympathy over the unfortunate drone incident that claimed lives and injured many people.
He said that the president had approved the commencement of the FULAKO Initiative, which would facilitate the building of houses, clinics, schools and veterinary hospital as part of non-kinetic response to problems of banditry and kidnapping in the North.
He said the Fulako Initiative was the president’s humanitarian response to the effects of banditry in communities, and would be implemented in Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger and Benue.
In his welcome address, Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger state ,said JNI has remained a beacon of Islamic education and missionary work, contributing significantly to the spiritual and intellectual growth of the society since 1962.
Bago who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Yakubu Garba, said the state was committed to working with religious leaders to create an environment that promotes peace and understanding.
Earlier, the Etsu Nupe, Dr Yahaya Abubakar, who is also the JNI Chairman in Niger, said the mandate of the body was to spread Islamic knowledge and unite the Muslim faithful.
