Breaking: Edo Cop Who Allegedly Killed Colleague Turns Self In

A Police Inspector accused of killing his colleague during the arrest of criminal suspects in Benin last Sunday, has turned himself in to the Police authorities in Benin City, Edo State of Nigeria. 

Inspector Jonathan Okouromi is said to have surrendered himself to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), a day after the brutal killing. 

The embattled cop who fled the scene immediately after shooting his teammate Sergeant Abosele Akhere to death turned himself in along with his service pistol used for the murder. 

Public  Relations Officer for Edo State Police Command SP Chidi Nwabuzor disclosed this to our correspondent in Benin City, today. 

SP Nwabuzor declined to give further details saying that investigation had been launched into the murder.

Recall that Inspector Jonathan Okouromi  and one Sergeant Abosele Akhere, both of Edo State police Command in company of other operatives of the command had gone to arrest of a wanted criminal suspect at Ikponmwosa/Egban Community when the incident occurred last Sunday, December 24, 2023.

Sergeant Abosele Akhere had succeeded in apprehending the targeted criminal suspect when suddenly his teammate Inspector Jonathan Okouromi allegedly shot him to death as the suspect escaped, immediately after. 

Inspector Jonathan himself allegedly fled the scene to avoid being arrested by other operatives said to have went for the operation.
