Benin City, Edo, Nigeria – Asharami Energy, a Sahara Group Upstream and Gas company has renovated Ologbo police station to strengthen Community policing in and around Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo State.
The landmark gesture is in fulfillment of the company’s social responsibility to its host communities which are within the jurisdiction of Ologbo police station.
At the commissioning and handover ceremony on Thursday, August 17, 2023, the Director, Sahara Group Foundation, Ejiro Gray, stated that “At Sahara Group Foundation, our effort is geared towards helping to create sustainable societies. And with the renovation of the Ologbo Police Station, we are once again demonstrating our commitment to supporting the institutions that protect and serve our society”.
He explained that the renovation work done at the police station included structural repairs and aesthetical changes to the building, plumbing works and change of sanitary wares. A new office block/building for investigative officers was also constructed, as well as the installation of solar energy system.
Also at the event, the stakeholder and community relations manager, Asharami Energy, Babatomiwa Adesida, noted that “Asharami Energy recognizes the critical role that law enforcement plays in maintaining peace and security within our communities. And that the renovation of the Ologbo police station underscores the organization’s values of sustainable development, community empowerment, and social impact”.
In his remarks the Enogie of Ologbo, His Royal Highness, Owenivbiugie Jason Akenzua applauded Asharami Energy and Sahara Group Foundation for carrying out the laudable project in Ologbo.
“A secure community is the foundation for progress and that the renovation of the Ologbo Police Station will support improved security and peace in the Dukedom,” the Enogie stated.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ologbo Police Station, CSP Moses Nkombe, thanked Asharami Energy and the Sahara Group Foundation for given the station a facelift.
He said the project will go a long way to boosting the morale of officers towards delivering efficient policing to host communities and environs.
Meanwhile, Sahara Group Foundation has implemented similar laudable projects in other Police facilities such as the Ijede police station, Ipaja police station, Omagwa police station, Onne police station, the MMA police station, Trinity police station, Koko police station and many others.
