*Obaseki Promises N500m Monthly Palliative

Workers in Edo State on Wednesday, join other protesters across the country to demand the immediate repair of the three Refineries in the Country by the Nigeria Government.
They said it would go a long way to address the issues surrounding the present economic hardship in Nigeria.
The Protesters who matched across major streets in Benin City in compliance with the call by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to protest against anti-Poor Policies of the Federal Government demanded swift interventions to ease the brewing tensions.
Speaking during the protest event, Comrade Odion Olaye said the Federal Government should fix the three refineries in the country as well as give a license to the Modular Refinery in Edo State so it can refine products and sell to Nigerians.
Olaye added that Fuel price has been increased by 300 percent, stressing that workers’ salaries should also be increased by 300 percent.
Comrade Olaye lamented the hardships on citizens, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidies.
The protesters also took their grievances to the state government where the governor, Godwin Obaseki declared total support for their plights.
Governor Obaseki who disclosed while receiving members of the NLC in the state, said his administration will disburse N500 million monthly to poor households in the State as a palliative to cushion the effect of the economic hardship caused by the subsidy removal by the All Progressives Congress APC Federal Government.
He, however, reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of workers and every Edo citizen.
The governor maintained that the efforts put in place will reduce the suffering and hardship inflicted on the people as a result of the bad policies of the APC-led federal government.
