Benin City, Edo, Nigeria – Nigerian people have been urged to demand the arrest and probe of corrupt ex-Governors and other public servants who abused public trust, under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, like the now suspended Governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele.
A renowned serial author, pro-democracy and human rights activist, Comrade Igbotako Nowinta, made the call at the weekend in Benin City, Edo State in a press statement he gave to journalists.
Comrade Nowinta, who is also a peace and conflict resolution expert, said the suspension and arrest of Godwin Emefiele is a positive development, because of his alleged glaring abuse of office, particularly his criminal execution of the controversial ‘change of naira notes” policy, that brought cruel and untold hardship to Nigerian people.

“Nigerians should demand for the arrest and probe of corrupt ex- Governors and other public servants who abused public trust, under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, like the now suspended Governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele.
“The recent suspension of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, and his subsequent arrest by officials of the Department of State Security (DSS) is a positive development, given his alleged abuse of office by criminally bringing cruel and untold hardship to Nigerian people, over his controversial implementation of the change of naira notes.
“Godwin Emefiele allegedly turned the Central Bank of Nigeria into a theatre for bandits, terrorists and systemic manipulators in the name of the changing naira notes in Nigeria, and in the process plundered, deceived and exploited the mass of our people. We will never forget that horrifying spectacle. He has to atone for his sins.
“What of the corrupt ex- Governors, Ministers and other public officials, who made fortunes, pilfered our common Treasury, took gigantic bribes and continue to live in stupendous luxuries, while the masses of Nigeria are being placed in medieval dungeon of poverty? What of those that brought ‘Nigeria Air’ in the last days of the regime of General Muhammadu Buhari with predetermined plot to fool Nigerian people; with nothing on the ground except gigantic fraud?
Nowinta said if the government of Bola Tinubu should be taken seriously, it should take urgent steps to strengthen practically, the institutions like the Department of State Security ( DSS), the Economic And Financial Crimes ( EFCC), statutorily put in place to fight corruption.
The government, he said, should bring those accursed criminals in Muhammadu Buhari’s infamous government to book in the country.
“The relevant bodies can fish out and effect the arrest of those political jackals, who turned democracy into an instrument of repression and torture.
“Those who consciously brought cannibalism and barbarism in inflicting systematic mass killings of the masses via ruinous economic and policy decisions must be brought to justice.
“It is worth pointing out that we will not allow this present government to pull the wool over our eyes. If Godwin Emefiele must be brought to book, corrupt ex-Governors and other vicious criminals in Muhammadu Buhari’s government should never be treated like sacred cows.”
“Surely, the days when Nigerians shall be liberated from the yokes of exploitation and maladministration are numbered; even as we wait anxiously for the outcome of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.”
