Benin City, Nigeria – A new Assistant Inspector-General of police has been deployed to zone 5 headquarters in Benin City. He is AIG Arungwa Nwazue Udo.
He formally assumed duty at the zone on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
AIG Arungwa solicited the cooperation of the good people of the Zone, made up of Edo and Delta States, in the fight against crimes and criminality in the entire zone.
A statement issued by the zonal Public Relations Officer, DSP Tijani Momoh indicated that AIG Arungwa Nwazue hails from Abia State and was born on May 7, 1965.
Prior to his elevation to AIG, he was Commissioner of Police, Admin, Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja.
The statement added that the AIG was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on March 1, 1990 as a Cadet Assistant.
“In the course of his career, the AIG has attended so many professional courses, both home and abroad. These include; the Advanced Detective Course, the Junior Command Course, the Intermediate Command Course and the Senior Command Course, all at the Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State.
“The International Police Officers’ College Course in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The AIG also attended the Senior Executive Course at the NIPSS, Kuru, Jos, Plateau State.” DSP Tijani stated.
Records before our reporter revealed that AIG Arungwa Nwazue Udo succeeded AIG Lawan Tanko Jimeta who died in active service in the early hours of Sunday February 12, 2023 at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City, after a brief illness.
