Any ‘Obidient’ Seeking Monetary Reward Isn’t True To Struggle — Hilda Dokubo

…as Rivers LP executives dissociate selves from the adoption of Fubara

The Nollywood veteran actress, Hilda Dokubo, has stated that any Nigeria involved in the Obidient Movement that is seeking monetary reward is not sincere in the struggle for a better country.

This is coming as the Executives of the Labour Party in Rivers State have dissociated themselves from the purported endorsement of the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Siminialaye Fubara, by the suspended Chairman of the party in the state, Dienye Pepple.

Dokubo, who spoke in Port Harcourt yesterday, following endorsement, and reports that Pepple and some others were financially induced to take the position said, that Obidients and Labour Party supporters do not accept bribes.

She noted that the nation at that time when people reach decisions either based on the level of their understanding or the hunger in their stomachs.

Dokubo said Obidients are a group of people who believe in a new Nigeria, Who believe that they can get better than the country is making available to them, adding that they would on Saturday vote their conscience.

Dokubo said: “I do not know what they (Pepple) have done what they have done, but as an Obidient, I will like to state clearly that the Obidients are not products that can be bought or sold.

“So, if anyone is moving because of whatever reason, you cannot claim to move with the Obidients. There is no one that plays anti-party that is an Obidient.

“We vote based on conviction. We vote our conscience. Don’t forget we are still on the journey to reclaiming our mandate. Anything that is not in this interest does not accept or follow it.”

However, the State Assistant Secretary of the Labour Party, Awaji Gogo Willington, stated that the party is saddened with the position of the former party chairman, Pepple, adopting Fubara, regretting that the development came when the and the Obidient Movement in Rivers State is yet to recover from the injustice meted them.

Awaji said: “We want to emphatically state that we the members of the Executive Committee of the Labour Party in Rivers State dissociate ourselves from the anti-party activities of Dienye Pepple and his co-travellers.”

Also, Dr Amadi Solomon, the Spokesman of the Labour Party, Rivers State urged all Obidients and Labour members to come out en masse to vote for the party’s candidates.

Solomon noted: “Categorically, Obidient Movement is more than just political gimmicks. As members of the Executive of the party, there was never a time we agreed that we are going to endorse candidates of any other political party.

“We have aspirants in all the elective positions. I want to urge all members of the Obidient Movement and Labour Party to go out on March 11to vote for our candidates.”

Similarly, Dr Smith Christopher Osoma, the State Youth Leader of, Labour Party, insisted that the party remains united, adding that those who want to cause disunity in the party have left.

Osoma said: “Our party remains united. What has happened is just natural assortment. The moles have sorted out themselves and they have been sidelined from the party.

“The youths in Rivers LP are very much united to deliver to the state. We are in a movement to deliver Nigeria from the hands of those that are on her neck.”
