Benin City, Nigeria – A retired teacher in one of Edo State government secondary schools in Benin City has been found dead in a rented apartment.
Police said the woman decomposing corpse was evacuated last Wednesday after her sister reported at Textile Mill Road police station.
The police identified the deceased retired female teacher as Enaruna Itohan Rose, 58 who lived alone in the apartment before her sudden and suspicious death.
“On February 15, 2023 about 7am one (name and address withheld by us) came to the station and reported that she received a phone call from her relative that her sister Enaruna Itohan Rose, 58 died in her rented apartment at 2, Osaghae lane, Off Osaghae Street, Evbareke quarters, Benin City.
“She was leaving alone, no husband, no children,” the police stated.
It was further stated that the incident may have occurred on Friday, February 10, 2023.
A source hinted: “On Saturday, February 11, 2023 her driver came, knocked severally on her door, no response, then, he left.
“She moved into the two-bed room apartment few months ago when she retired as salary grade level 15 officer in Edo State government civil service.
“We became curious after unusual odour started emanating from her apartment as her vehicle was packed outside the compound.
“The madam is very calm, she was not a troublemaker.”
