Breaking: Police Declare Canada-based Nigerian Lady Wanted For Alleged Cyberbullying, Others

BY MIKE OSAROGIAGBON

Benin City – The Nigeria Police Force has declared a Canada-based Nigerian, Eboni Rachael Osazee Iyonmana, wanted for alleged defamation of character, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, obscene publication and false information.

The offences are alleged to have been committed against the chairman of Edo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Festus Alenkhe.

The Public Relations Officer for Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor disclosed this to journalists in Benin on Monday.

SP Nwabuzor said that the action of the police followed a complaint by Comrade Festus Alenkhe over a post on the internet credited to Eboni Rachael Osazee Iyonmana.

The police spokesman added that in the said internet post, the lady allegedly accused Comrade Festus Alenkhe of kidnapping and other crimes capable of tarnishing his image.

He stated further that the Edo State Commissioner of Police CP Mohammed Dankwara consequently ordered a discreet investigation into the allegation.

“The lady blackmailed the complainant, Mr. Festus Alenkhe that he is a kidnapper, that he goes about wooing ladies and siphoning their accounts, their hard earned money. These were the offences she alleged.

“But we all know that the offences that I just mentioned amount to defamation of character, cyber bullying, cyber stalking, obscene publication and false information,” SP Nwabuzor said.

He added that the proper thing for the Canada based Nigerian lady to have done was to have made her complaint of any harassments, extortions, kidnapping against the NUJ chairman to the Inspector General of Police for necessary actions instead of going about maligning him.

“As an educated person which she claimed to be, one would have expected that she goes straight to the police and file a report to the Commissioner of Police or at the level of the Assistant Inspector General of Police zone 5 headquarters, Benin or even the inspector general of Police for investigation.

“She can’t be a judge in her own case by trying to malign the character of this personality that we mentioned. As I know, Festus Alenkhe is the current chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council”, the police spokesman noted.

The said Eboni Rachael Osazee Iyonmana could not be reached for comment.
