Gombe Gov Aspirant, Barde Says Infrastructure, Education, Economic Empowerment Top His Development Agenda

Gombe, Nigeria – Muhammad Jibrin Barde, governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe state has said that he plans to make infrastructural development, education and economic empowerment as part of the key pillars of his development agenda if elected as Governor in 2023.

As part of the plan under the theme Our Gombe, mission to unlock the jewel, Barde said that he will minimize the burden of poverty by implementing initiatives that produce a healthy, well-educated and productive workforce while protecting vulnerable groups – women and girls, persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

According to Alhaji Barde, “Our educational policy will focus on quality, access and relevance. We shall, as well, prioritize providing wholesome healthcare with urgent focus on mother, newborn and child health and nutrition’, Alhaji Barde said.

Alhaji Barde highlighted four pillars which underpin his human capital development strategy, and they are education, healthcare, youth development and gender equality.

Under pillar three in his agenda “infrastructural development,” he stated that he would ensure full broadband internet connectivity which targets 20% increase in penetration rate across the state, expand access to homes, business clusters and all public institutions; schools, government offices and health centers.

He further stated that he would also ensure transparent and uniform policy on right-of-way charges for telecom service providers.

Amongst the plans he sets to achieve in his first 100 days, he said he will formulate and publish right of way charges for telecom service providers to speed up the roll-out of broadband internet coverage.
