Benin City, Nigeria – President Muhammadu Buhari has been called upon to give Nigerian voters free, fair and credible elections in February 2023.
The Pastor in Charge of Zone and Parish, Adeniyi Emoruwa, made the call during the week at the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carol Service, organized by the Redeemed Christian Church of God Shekinah Glory Parish, Zonal Headquarters, in Oluku Benin City, Edo State of Nigeria.
Pastor Emoruwa said that given the enormous presidential powers under the present Constitution, operatable in Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has a lot to do to give the people of Nigeria, free, fair and credible elections in 2023.
According to him: “The people of Nigeria have gone through a lot, suffered so much and too much in having their votes and voices, to be the deciding factor in who becomes their president and in other elective positions over the years.
“More so, when vote buying, and selling have become nauseating recurring decimal during period of elections in our clime.
“In order for votes of Nigerians to count graphically and pragmatically, the president has a lot to do to ensure hitch free, fair, and credible elections, by proactively giving the necessary orders, at the right time, to all relevant bodies connected to election management and monitoring in Nigeria, to provide a level playing field for all political parties fielding candidates in February 2023.
“So, President Muhammadu Buhari can influence things positively across the country, and should give us free, fair and credible elections; he should do the needful; this will ensure his name to be written in gold letters in Nigerian history”.
The Zonal Pastor equally admonished Christians all over the world, especially in Nigeria to appreciate God earnestly, by putting God first in this season of celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ; to trust God passionately in the midst of the present stark hardship in the land; to live righteously by moving closer to God and trust God for a positive turn around, even as they prayerfully prepare to vote the candidates of their choice in 2023 general elections.
