Abuja, Nigeria – On November 28, 2022, all roads will lead to OAS Lounge, B9 Street, Behind Estate Shopping Complex, CITEC Jabi Airport Road, venue of the celebration of the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on Sam Kargbo, Esq.
The event is billed to take place from 2pm – 5pm after the conferment ceremony proper in Abuja same day.
Sam Kargbo, said through an invite that he would be happy to have the presence of friends and well-wishers come celebrate the auspicious occasion.
In September 2022, the Legal Practitioners’ Privilege Committee announced the names of 53 successful applicants for consideration as Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SAN.
The very rigorous process involved intense screening, scrutiny, interviews and an online and offline vetting process to ensure that candidates applicant met the stipulated high standards. Among the 53 candidates that were successfully conferred with the SAN title, nine others ‘academics’ were successful as well.
The SAN is the highest rank in the legal profession. In addition to other requirements candidates must meet is that he/she must have prosecuted to judgement level 20 cases at the High Court, 5 at the Court of Appeal and 4 at the Supreme Court in the last ten years.
The candidate must have a modern office with well-stocked library and a minimum of five junior lawyers and competent non-legal staff.
Sam Kargbo trained as a lawyer at the University of Benin, Benin City and has a master’s degree from the Lagos State University, Nigeria. He is Principal at the Law firm of Jackson, Kargbo & Associates with offices in Lagos, Kaduna and Abuja.
He is well known as a reference point for election petition cases in Nigeria. Sam Kargbo has over three decades of practice as a solicitor, advocate and public policy analyst under his belt.
Shortly after he was shortlisted as SAN, Sam Kargbo delivered a lecture titled Media, Civil Society, Election Offences and Election Tribunals in Nigeria, organized by the Federal Ministry of Justice, the British Council and the EU in Abuja.
The Abuja seminar was attended by the media, INEC representatives, academics, lawyers and the general public.
