Society for Awareness and Family Initiative (SAFI) has joined forces with National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), to provide free medical services to the Akugbe-Neriye Landlords & Landladies Association in Ekehuan road axis of Benin City, Edo State of Nigeria.

A statement from Mr. Abraham, contact person of SAFI indicated that services rendered to the 47 persons in the communities at the Ekewan communities with cases, which included Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar issues.

“During the course of the Program, 10 clients had very low sugar and were given first aid care with a bottle of Coke while 10 others with high blood pressure readings were given sublingual administration of Nifedipine tablets and later referred to see a doctor.

“The remaining 27 had a good health status and were encouraged to continue with their health status,” Mr. Abraham said.

According to him, SAFI used the opportunity to sensitize residents of the community on the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law (VAPP) in Edo State and on Gender Based Violence (GBV) issues.

“We gave out hotlines of the Government MDAs and used the opportunity to share some of the contents of the VAPP Law with the participants,” Abraham said in his statement.

Program organizer, Mrs. Daisy Abiola Igaga, who is the Executive Director of Take a Cue Development Initiative (TACDI), in welcome address to the Akugbe-Neriye communities encouraged everyone to make good use of the opportunity and to ask questions that concern their health and that of their children/Wards.

Many of the residents of Akugbe-Neriye expressed their excitement at the medical outreach. Here are videos of some of the Akugbe-Neriye people expressing their happiness with the organizers.
