NANS Protests At Lagos Airport Amid Heavy Security

Students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students have gathered around the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, to protest the prolonged strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The students gathered on Monday amid heavy security presence, according to the PUNCH.

They are seen dancing around as they sing solidarity songs.

In a quick chat with PUNCH correspondent, the South-West Coordinator of NANS, Adegboye Olatununji, said security agencies had been mobilised to the scene, but they were undaunted.

“Yeah, they mobilised heavy security, but we’re undaunted. We’re there on standby,” he told The PUNCH.

The students defied the downpour to express their grievances at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

The students held banners bearing inscriptions such as: “No nation can develop without genuine commitment to education,” and “If you have money for election form, you can fund education.”

They caused traffic around the airport amid the presence of a combined team of officers of the Lagos State Police Command, Rapid Response Squad, Lagos Airport Police Command, and other security agencies.
