Benin City – Edo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Abutu Yaro has declared that the state police command has been retooled and repositioned to checkmate kidnapping and other criminal activities that may arise before, during and after the Yuletide in the state.
CP Abutu Yaro stated this while delivering his speech at the state Security Consultative Forum held at Police Officers Mess, GRA, Benin City at the weekend.
He noted that the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has provided logistics to ease operations of the state police command.
“The preparations for the ember months have been escalated by the innovation brought in by our governor.
“In the last two weeks the governor provided 12 operational vehicles for the Nigeria police, Edo Command and the vision of the governor is to ensure that all divisions in Edo state have a minimum of one operational vehicle, that has been provided, some are already have four”, CP Abutu stated.
The COMPOL further said that the state government has on monthly basis been providing fuel for police operations in the state.
“Besides that, the state government provides 20,000 litres of petrol every month… and equal 20,000 quantity of diesel for operational activities of the police.
“So, we are ready, willing and capable of doing the needful to secure Edo State. We are good to go”, he assured.
CP Abutu Yaro noted that the Benin-Ekpoma and Benin-Lagos roads which used to be nightmares for travelers due to activities of kidnappers have not recorded any case kidnapping in the past weeks.
