Benin City, Nigeria – Edo United Forum (EUF), a social cultural organization, has called on Edo State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro to redeploy the D.P.O. in charge of Ekiadolor Police Station, in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State for allegedly aiding and abetting criminal activities.
The group in Press Release, jointly signed by Uwadiae Odigie, Chairman, and Comrade Igbotako Nowinta, General Secretary, accused the D.P.O. of aiding and abetting proliferation of organized atrocities by armed herdsmen and “blood thirsty terrorists,” against innocent people in several communities, in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
“The D.P.O has become a poison running through the various communities in that locality, as a result of his alleged connivance with the criminal elements there.
“This baffling development necessitated the courtesy visit that members of EUF paid to the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command Headquarters on June 14th, 2022, where he told us to formally write to his office.
“As the tale of savagery and criminality has turned into a nightmare, with the violently besieged communities daily panting for life and survival, it is in our opinion that the continued stay of the D.P.O in Ekiadolor will further tighten the vise of terrorist attacks against the peace loving and law abiding people of Ovia North East Local Government Area”.
The EUF which said it is made up of tested professionals and statesmen in Edo State, and in diaspora, revealed that the said D.P.O was once redeployed, as a result of petitions written against him, by the concerned communities, in the area, only for him to find his way back to his office, less than twenty four hours later.
The organizers posited further: “We are therefore, using this medium to passionately urge the Commissioner of Police Edo State Command, to immediately redeploy the D.P.O of Ekiadolor Police Division, because of several alleged devastating evidences against him, and in the overall best interest of peace and tranquility in that locality.
“The fact of the matter is that the D.P.O has become like a deadly snake thrashing around in a bag wanting to bite somebody in that locality. A stich in time will save further bloody loss of lives in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State”.
