Police To Punish DPOs, Commanders For Misdeed Of Their Men – Force PPRO

By Bob MajiriOghene Etemiku

Abuja, Nigeria – Acting Force Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adejobi Olumuyiwa has said that the police is planning to punish and hold DPOs and Commanders responsible for the misdeeds of their men.

CSP Adejobi said that the move is to stop rampant cases of extortion, harassment and brutality in the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.

“In as much as we don’t promote vicarious liability, we have equally noticed that some superiors fail or lack the willingness and/or wherewithal to supervise and manage their men.

“This leadership gap is not in tune with the leadership styles of the IGP and his repositioning drives, thus, counterproductive and condemnable,” CSP Adejobi said on his verified twitter handle on April 13, 2022.

Most Nigerians who responded to this tweet support CSP Adejobi. “All I’ve ever been saying is that if men from a particular division are caught in misconduct 3 times, demote and remove the DPO; if a command records up to 5, demote and remove the Commander; if a State records more than 10 in 6months, demote and remove the CP,” one of the responders said.

Others who responded to CSP Adejobi’s tweet said that punishment for corrupt people at the top helps to reduce corruption.
