Over Ten trucks loaded with illegal petroleum products have been impounded by the Commandant-General’s special intelligence team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Edo State Command in Ahor Community near Benin City in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria.
The NSCDC team stormed Ahor Community in the early hours of today (Wednesday) to uncover the illegal refining oil depot.
Some of the workers were not physically present at the illegal depot, but some workers were arrested.
Evidence of Illegal Refining was conspicuous as barrels were loaded with suspected petroleum products, with standby petroleum tankers and pumping machines for onward distribution to various petroleum filling Stations in the neighborhood.
The public relations officer of Edo State Command of NSCDC Mr. Efosa Ogbebor said to protect the critical infrastructure of the nation, a mandate was given to the Commandant-General of the Corps who also passed down the directive to the field personnel of the force to wake up to their responsibility in ensuring safety of lives and prosperity.
Some of the suspects, narrating their involvement in the alleged Crime said they were lured by thoughts of easy money making and pleaded for forgiveness, pledging to turn new leaves if pardoned.
According to Mr. Efosa Ogbeibor the Suspects (names withheld) will be arraigned before a competent court of Jurisdiction at the completion of investigation.
