Benin City, Nigeria – Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Ahmad Abdurrahman, recently deployed to zone 5 Command in Edo State has warned personnel of the zone against bullying, extortion, overbearing and other forms of unprofessional conducts, as any erring officer would be dealt with, accordingly.
AIG Ahmad Abdurrahman stated this in his maiden chat with Alltimepost.com in his office at Zone 5 Command headquarters, Adesuwa road, Benin City, December 24, 2021.
“I have held my maiden address with some senior police officers and some personnel of the zone.
“My message to them is that police must do police work. Internal security must be achieved through hard work and by us.
“I will not tolerate bullying, extortion, overbearing on suspects because even suspects have their own rights,” AIG Ahmad stated.
The AIG who emphasized the need for police officers to protect and respect citizens’ fundamental human rights, enjoined the personnel in the zone to always discharge their duties within the armpits of Force Order.
“I have told them that they must obey Force Order and Police Act. They must work according to the book and there must not be illegal duties”. The police zonal boss warns.
Recall that AIG Ahmad Abdurrahman assumed duty in zone 5 on December 16, 2021 after taking over from AIG Isaac O. Akinmoyede who has been redeployed to zone 9, Umuahia.
Zone 5 Command with its headquarters on Adesuwa road in Benin City is in charge of Edo and Delta States police command.
