Benin City, Nigeria – Zone 5 police command, including Edo and Delta States will henceforth enjoy unperturbed security as the newly deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Ahmad Abdurrahman vows to cleanse the zone of criminals and their allies.
The commissioners of police and personnel in the two states are closely to be supervised by the new AIG towards ensuring a watertight security across the nooks and crannies of the zone.
Also, law-abiding residents and visitors to the zone would have their fundamental rights respected and protected by the operatives who have been given a marching order to discharge their duties in accordance with the tenets of Police Act and Force Order.
AIG Ahmad Abdurrahman stated this when he disclosed his mission in the zone to Alltimepost.com on December 16, 2021.
The zonal police boss however expressed confidence that internal security is achievable through hard work and synergy.
“My mission is to police the states, supervise my commissioners of police and personnel to make sure the states are peaceful, to police the nook and cranny of the zone.
“To ensure that people are going about their normal businesses unperturbed.
“To cleanse the environment of criminals and criminalities, and also to make sure that unscrupulous elements in the society are picked up and prosecuted in the court of law so that the environment will be conducive for law-abiding citizens,” AIG Ahmad Abdurrahman stated.
The new AIG also assured that under his watch, bullying, extortion, overbearing and other unprofessional conducts would not be tolerated as erring officers would be dealt with, accordingly.
“I have held my maiden address with some senior police officers and some personnel of the zone.
“My message to them is that police must do police work. Internal security must be achieved through hard work and by us.
“I will not tolerate bullying, extortion, overbearing on suspects because even suspects have their own rights”. AIG Ahmad stated.
It will be recalled that AIG Ahmad Abdurrahman assumed duty in zone 5 on December 16, 2021 after taking over from AIG Isaac O. Akinmoyede who has been redeployed to zone 9, Umuahia.
