Edo State Government through the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC) has commenced Rural Electrification of Abudu and other communities in Orhionmwon Local Government Area, as well as some communities in Uhunmwonde LGA.
The government also installed 2.5MV/3311VA transformers in the communities to boost power supply.
The benefitting communities include Abudu Oza – Evbuobanosa Oghada, Itu, Ofien, Idudolor, Ugbeze, Evbuohen, Ago-Ogbeide, Uvbe, Isua Evbosawe, Igbogiri Ugomoson, Ugboayon, Ugoneki, among others.
Inspecting the Installation of the transformers, the Chairman of EDSOGPADEC, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, thanked Governor Godwin Obaseki for giving approval for the people.
Osifo said that the electrification project was aimed at addressing the perennial power problem in the areas, describing the development as a revolutionary in infrastructural development.
He added that the State Government is committed to the welfare of the people adding that more of the gestures would be extended to other areas in the state to enhance economic development and create job opportunities for youths.
On his part, the Commissioner representing Orhionmwon on the Board of EDSOGPADEC, Charles Aideyan Esq. while appreciating Governor Obaseki said that Abudu has benefitted immensely from the present administration in the State since 2016 till date.
He said the Abudu Bridge which had hitherto remained a death trap had been reconstructed, noting that the legacy would continue to boost economic development of the areas, as well as increasing productivity and job creations
