Police Deploy Special Squad To Dislodge Bandits In Akoko-Edo Forest

Members of the Special squad of Edo Police Command have moved into a forest in Akoko-Edo local government area in search of bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements terrorizing the area.

The commissioner of police in Edo State (CP) Philip Ogbadu directed the special operation led by SP Richard Balogun of the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-crime unit, to smoke out the hoodlums.

A statement issued by the state police command Public Relations Officer SP Kontongs Bello stated that the tactical team had rescued an 11-year-old boy reportedly kidnapped in Ososo town on July 19, 2021.

The special squad was said to had deployed high-tech tracking device, trailed the hoodlums to their hideout in Uneme-Erunu/Okpela area of Akoko-Edo where the boy, Onose Friday Umasabor was rescued on July 23, 2021.

“Upon sighting the Operatives, the abductors engaged them in a gun duel but they were overwhelmed by the superior firepower from the police which caused them to abandon the victim unhurt.

“An operational motorcycle without registration number and a Techno Android Phone was recovered after the abductors fled into the bush with various degrees of gun injuries.

“Bush combing is on top gear with the aim of arresting the hoodlums, while investigation is still ongoing….” The statement read in parts.

It however stated that the commissioner of police in Edo State CP Philip Ogbadu has ordered criminals and their collaborators to quit the state or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.

It enjoined all law abiding residents of Edo State to remain calm while they go about their lawful businesses as the command would not leave any stone unturned towards ensuring the protection of lives and property in the state.
