Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the weekend, commissioned the Quick Print Shop in the state, reassuring that his government will sustain reforms and policies to ensure an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Obaseki at commissioning of the firm and launch of the Girl-Child Empowerment Initiative (GCEI) in Benin City, said his government is building a vibrant state to create more opportunities for youths and discourage them from illegal migration.
According to him, “Our goal as an administration is to make Edo the technological hub of this country, leveraging on electricity and connectivity. We have very smart young people in Edo State.
“Within the next five years our dream is to produce a minimum of 5,000 software engineers in Edo State. Within 91 days, we built the first campus for the Edo Tech Park and it’s operational now. We have a hundred students there. We have started in our match to make sure that we train a minimum of 10,000 software engineers here to make us a competitive nation.
“We want to build a vibrant state that will discourage our young ones from traveling out to seek greener pastures when we can create the opportunity for a positive business that will encourage the youth to stay back and develop the State.”
The governor added, “We are creating an Edo that will not discriminate between public and private sector, a state where both public servants and workers in the private sector work together, encouraging and enhancing one another.”
He further noted, “When we came into office in 2016, what we saw in terms of human trafficking was degrading to the State and I wondered why we allowed it to degenerate to that level. The stigmatization was alarming, but thank God for the significant progress we have made in that direction.”
The governor commended the initiative of Seal Group as it would attract more investors into the state, adding, “We would partner with you on this as more investments are coming into the state. Seal Group is preparing these young girls for work.”
The Representative of the Chairman of Seal Group, Jessica Lawani Ine, commended the governor for bringing credibility to Edo State following his developmental strides in the State.
She called on all Edo people in the Diaspora to come home and utilize the business-friendly environment created by the governor to establish businesses and contribute their quota to the development of the State.
“We must change the story of Edo State as indigenes; we should all come back home and establish businesses to develop Edo State. Edo women are very special and important to us that is why we brought home the Girl Child Empowerment Initiative (GCEI); we would support our young girls to find pride in Edo,” she added.
