Edo State Government has received 9,590 more doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, as the government intensifies efforts at ensuring that as many people as possible in the state are vaccinated against coronavirus (COVID-19).
Health Educator with the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mrs. Irene Uabor, in a chat with journalists, advised residents in the state to avail themselves of the opportunity to take the vaccine so as to protect themselves from the virus.
According to her, “We have 9590 more vaccines supplied to the state. As a result, vaccination continues in earnest and citizens are advised to go out to take their jabs.
“Frontline workers including health care workers, military and paramilitary operatives and all other persons that meet people daily in the course of their jobs are advised to take the vaccine. The elderly and persons with co-morbid conditions are not exempted.”
She noted that the vaccine is safe, effective and given free of charge, adding that after taking the vaccine, those inoculated are advised to observe all COVID-19 protocols and guidelines.
Uabor said the vaccination is ongoing at two fixed locations, which are at the State Ministry of Health and the State Primary Health Care Development Agency as well as other mobile posts.
The health educator noted that the state government is committed to tackling the menace of the virus in the state and protecting the people against the deadly virus, through non-pharmaceutical interventions.
She urged the public to adhere to all regulatory protocols and guidelines to sustain the success recorded in tackling the pandemic.
