Edo State Government has presented a cheque of N2,878,207.56 to the family of late Edigin Idele, driver of the state’s Head of Service (HOS), who was shot dead during the kidnap of the HOS and other beneficiaries of deceased employees enrolled in the Contributory Pension Scheme.
The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq. who presented the cheque on behalf of the state government, said the gesture was imperative as it will cushion the effect of the sudden demise of the deceased, Idele who was shot dead during the kidnap.
Okungbowa noted: “Nothing can mitigate the irreplaceable loss of our dear brother and friend but the Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki believes this will go a long way to cushion the effect that the sudden demise of your benefactor has caused.”
The Head of Service reaffirmed that “The state government appreciates and values you highly and the effort your father put in to his work while with us.’’
The late Mr. Edigin Idele was a Staff of the Directorate of Central Administration, attached to Office of the Head of Service where he functioned as the Chief Driver, before the sad incident of the kidnap of the HOS on the 19th December, 2020 during which the late driver was shot and killed.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Aikoriogie Caroline, the younger sister of the deceased appreciated the government for the quick response in the payment and for rallying round the family during their moment of grief.
To witness the cheque presentation were staff of Edo State Pensions Bureau and the first son of the deceased Idele Eghosa Fidelis who collected the cheque on behalf of the family.
