Edo State Government has committed to strengthening the implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), ensuring that pensioners in the state are well catered for.
The Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., gave the assurance during a meeting with a Pension Fund Administrator (PFA), Sigma Pensions, at the Government House, Benin City.
Okungbowa who reassured the commitment of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state, maintained that “despite the huge capital outlay since the inception of the Contributory Pension Scheme on January 01, 2017, the government remains willing and ready to make the CPS better for Edo workers.”
He noted, “Government is interested in what will make the Contributory Pension Scheme get better in the state as it is the future of Pensions in Nigeria.”
Earlier, Vice President, Business Development at Sigma Pensions, Mr. Chukwuma Amaonwu, who led the team, hailed the state government for the prompt payment of salaries to workers and its commitment to the 10 percent contribution into the CPS.
Amaonwu further promised better synergy and partnership with the government in ensuring the success of the CPS in the state.
The Head of Service also met with the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporation and Government Owned Companies (SSASCCOC), expressing the government’s readiness in ensuring improved service delivery by public and civil servants in the state.
