COVID-19 Vaccine: We’re Hale, Hearty – Obaseki, Shaibu, Others Say After First Dose

…urge frontline workers, others to prepare to be vaccinated 

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that he is hale and hearty and proceeding with his official engagements after taking the first dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.

The governor along with the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, took the vaccine on Monday, March 15. Others who took the vaccine include the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun; the Edo State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Esther Edigin and Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq.  

The governor has since continued on his official itinerary with a visit to Effurun, Delta State, where he is expected to commission the Ovwor Effurun-Otor bridge and the newly rehabilitated 34KM Jeremi-Okwagbe Road.

On his part, Rt. Hon. Onobun, said, “Twenty-four hours after I took the first jab of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine alongside Governor Obaseki, his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu and other notable persons, I am hale and hearty.

“Though there was apprehension before taking the vaccine, I am now a witness after taking the vaccine openly. I have been in the office all day going about my duty. I encourage every resident in the state and other Nigerians to make themselves available to take the vaccine, so that together we can be safe from the pandemic.”

On his part, Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City, Archbishop Augustine Akubeze, who also took the vaccine, said: “I have not experienced any side effects. After taking the vaccine yesterday, I came back to my office and took part in an activity in the evening. I have been in my office since morning and work has continued. People have been coming to see me and I had no side effect whatsoever. It is safe for people to have their own jab.”
