…Says LGA’s Admin as closest to the people must be left in capable hands

Concerned Edo Citizens Forum (CECF) says after a critical and forensic evaluation of the activities and performance of Council Chairmen in Edo State over the past years, “specifically these past 3 years” they have come to reasonable conclusion that majority of them performed below standard and do not deserve second term in Office.
Diaspora Coordinator of Edo Citizens Forum, Mr. Fatai Efehi Mustapha and convener, Comrade Roy Oribhabor said in Benin City that only five chairmen in the 3 years under review performed above board based with the resources available.
CECF says this development has become necessary in view of the latest agitation and political maneuvering across the state by some chairmen to secure second tenure noting that Local Government administration as the closest to the people must be left in capable hands to manage.
Their words: “The position of local Government chairman is not for personal settlement but to advance the people via development and empowerment….many of the council chairmen failed woefully in this regard, consequently they are not permitted to repeat as some are suggesting now”.
Edo Citizens Forum said their decision is a product of love and sincerity for the benefit of all Edo people not selfish reason, adding that they further challenge the council chairmen who think otherwise to showcase their achievements in the past three years.
The Forum noted that some of the council chairmen abandoned their people and did not show serious commitment even for Governor Obaseki’s second tenure bid.
Edo Citizens Forum remarked that as major stakeholders in Edo State and concerned citizens they believe in the progress of their dear state and must speak out when necessary and pertinent for the betterment of all.
The Forum said they intend to submit a detailed report of their research on the performance of the Chairmen to the Governor of the State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and Edo leadership of PDP to serve as guide in the next local Government election and general decision making process as well as to avoid appointments of misfits into key positions at the grassroots.
